Safety is our #1 priority. We inspect and ensure each cottage is equipped with appropriate working safety equipment – smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors – as required by law. Additionally, each cottage has one or more fire extinguishers.

Muskoka has 911 service, and I have also included local hospitals and pharmacies information in the cottage guidebook.

Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau are commonly referred to as the “Big 3” lakes. They are accessible to each other. Lake Rosseau is accessed from Lake Muskoka through the Indian River and the locks in Port Carling. And Lake Joseph is connected to Lake Rosseau through the narrows at Port Sandfield and the Joseph River. These 3 lakes are popular and desirable, however Muskoka boasts hundreds of smaller lakes that are equally beautiful and stunning!

There is such a wide array of activities during summer in Muskoka – something for everyone in your family! On my website look under the Experience tab to find out about just some of them. Some cottages allow pets and some do not – this information will be indicated on each property listing. For those cottages that do consider pets, you will need to send me a photo of the pet for approval and complete a pet waiver form.

Each cottage provides a selection of non-motorized watercraft for you to enjoy including kayaks, stand up paddleboards, canoes, and/or paddle boats. Unfortunately, no motorized boats are included with your cottage rental; however, I can recommend local marinas where you can arrange for one.

While most cottages have life jackets (PFD’s), they may not have all the correct sizes for everyone in your family/group, especially children. For safety, I recommend you bring along properly sized PFD’s for everyone in your family. I can also recommend a local store where you can arrange PFD rentals.

By law, there must be a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) for each person on board (sized according to each person’s age and weight) – this is for motorized and non-motorized watercraft.

A valid fishing license is required by anyone between the ages of 18 and 64 years old. Those under 18 or 65 years or older are exempt. You can purchase your license at local stores, including Canadian Tire.

Yes, all cottages have outdoor propane barbecue grills! Some are connected to the main gas line and others use propane tanks (2 tanks will be provided, and you can always refill in town).

Most, but not all cottages have firepits – check the amenities section. The municipality will advise fire ratings through the summer accordingly to weather conditions. Occasionally there may even be a fire ban. I will keep you updated on the status of fire restrictions through text and update the digital guidebook.

Each cottage kitchen is fully equipped so you don’t need to bring anything other than your food!

Each cottage will list in the amenities section whether the cottage has drinkable UV filtered water and/or has a water dispenser. If a dispenser is available, 2 jugs will be provided, and you can always purchase more in town.

All beds and pillows have protection covers and are made up with newer fresh bed linens. While bath towels, hand towels and tea towels are provided, you should remember to pack your own beach towels!

I do provide exclusive Lake Life small shampoos, conditioners, body wash, soaps and lotions to start you off, but you should remember to pack your favourite amenities for the week!

Check-in is 4:00 pm and check-out is 10:00 am. Unfortunately, I cannot accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs since I need to maintain a rigid schedule for our housekeeping teams to execute multiple turnover cleans in the hours between.

I will provide directions, parking information and the lock code in a handy digital guidebook before your vacation don’t worry. You can share this with everyone in your family in case you drive separately and arrive at separate times. Wifi codes (if applicable) and instructions for any electronics will also be in the guidebook.

One thing you need to do differently in Muskoka is to keep your garbage/recycling indoors until garbage collection, and then to ensure you are putting out your garbage responsibility on collection day. Excess garbage should be taken to the local transfer station. All this information will be in your digital guidebook.
